Corning Todd Smyth, age 79, of Willow Grove passed away surrounded by family on October 8, 2022 at Abington Jefferson Hospital.
Born on December 12, 1942 in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia to the late F. Corning and Jacqueline (née Schultz) Smyth. He attended and graduated from the Valley Forge Military Academy, and went on to attend Temple University and Rutgers University.
Todd was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served as an Air Crewman during the Vietnam Era.
Todd was a long-time member of the Abington Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, a stephen’s minister, and also where he sung as a member of the choir. He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, Loyal Order of Moose, and the Disabled Veterans of America. He also enjoyed the community theater of Abington and the Willow Manor Players, and it is at the community theater of Abington where he met his wife, Lynda.
Todd is survived by his loving wife, Lynda (née Gatenby) Smyth as well as many nieces and nephews and both a grandniece and grandnephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Laurel Ardito Smyth, and a sister, Cherie Smyth.
A funeral service celebrating Todd’s life will be held on Wednesday October 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home, 145 Tennis Ave, Ambler, PA 19002. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment with full military honors will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
