Thomas George Barlow, Jr.

Thomas George Barlow, Jr. passed away peacefully on March 8, 2023 at Jefferson Abington Hospital.

Tom was born on August 14, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Thomas and Alberta (née Mawhinney) Barlow. He attended Upper Dublin High School and went on to attend and graduate from Muhlenberg College. Tom obtained his masters degree, and further graduate level work,  from Temple University.

He began teaching in 1968 and taught at Sandy Run Elementary School and Thomas Fitzwater Elementary School in the Upper Dublin School District. He taught for over 30 years and was highly admired by his students and colleagues. He was also a basketball coach within the Upper Dublin School District. He owned his own business, Barlow Landscaping, where he would often employee his student athletes and he served as a mentor to many young men.

He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Claire Hanna Barlow and one son, Thomas Charles Barlow. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Lynne Lavoie and her family from Rhode Island. He will forever he remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend to all.

A memorial service will be held in the near future at Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home located at 145 Tennis Ave, Ambler, PA 19002. Please refer back to this page for service details as they will be announced when services have been finalized.
