Obituary

Veronica A. Grogan (nee Ello), age 82 of Fort Washington, PA passed away on April 9, at home, embraced by the love of her family.

The first thread of the great tapestry of her life was placed, when Veronica first graced the world on September 1, 1940 in the Bronx, NY.

She attended Sacred Heart Academy, secretarial school, and then on a very special day in 1960 - long written in the book of time - she met the love of her life, Joe Grogan, by what would become her/their favorite spot, the beach in Avon By the Sea, NJ. Here they began a lifelong quest to build first a partnership for the ages, which would stretch for nearly 63 years, but also commence to weave together a family, first as husband and wife, and two years later as parents.

Hand in hand they moved through times, both lean and plentiful, in constant knowledge that one could lean on the other when challenges arose. As strong through tears as in triumph, watching the tapestry grow more beautiful as their children grew and started families of their own, carrying with them the example of their parents, as Veronica and Joe had before them.

Veronica was mother to her own five children, Nana to her thirteen grandchildren, but as her family can attest, surrogate mother to countless friends and acquaintances, dipping into her endless spring of maternal warmth, welcoming all without exception.

During her time on this plane, Veronica gathered around her people, experiences, and meaningful things, all of which remain as a testament to her great spirit, allowing those of us still here to weather her departure with great sadness, but also greater gratitude that she was a part of our lives.

Veronica is survived by her husband Joe, the mighty oak, children Laurence (Jennifer), Laura, Christopher (Isabel), Vincent (Anne) and Melissa (Steven). Grandchildren Miles and Sean Grogan, Conor and Kathleen O’Mara, Mia and Theodore Grogan, Gabriel, Ezra, Noah, Jackie, and Lilly Block, and Luna and Rain Gore. She is also survived by her beloved cousin Claire Shropshire.

Veronica was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Lilly, and her brothers Paul and John.

There are no immediate plans for service or visitation, but a memorial will take place later this year.

In lieu of cards and flowers, donations may be made to St Francis Friends of the Poor, NYC: https://www.stfrancisfriends.org (https://www.stfrancisfriends.org )

The Grogan family would like to extend their thanks to the compassionate and capable staff of Ascend Hospice.
